DESCRIPTION:
The High School Principal leads the overall educational program of a comprehensive Senior High School serving more than 1,200 students and acts as the primary liaison between the Superintendent and the school community including faculty, staff, students, and families.
SALARY:
Highly competitive, per the Rush-Henrietta Administrators' contract, with a range of $100,000-$166,635, based on experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vision, Equity & Adaptive Leadership
Articulate and lead a clear, compelling vision for teaching and learning grounded in equity and high expectations for all students
Demonstrate adaptive leadership, responding effectively to change, complexity, and emerging needs
Champion equity-focused leadership practices, ensuring culturally responsive and inclusive environments
Lead continuous reflection and improvement aligned to district priorities and Vision 2037
Serve as the lead instructional expert, ensuring high-quality teaching across all content areas
Implement data-driven instruction systems, including analysis of student work, common assessments, and progress monitoring
Lead cycles of continuous improvement with clear goals, action plans, and measurable outcomes
Build teacher capacity through coaching, feedback, and professional learning aligned to best practices
Ensure alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to rigorous standards
Supervision, Evaluation & Teacher Development
Conduct frequent, high-quality classroom observations (formal and informal) aligned to instructional frameworks
Provide actionable, timely feedback that improves teaching practice and student outcomes
Lead a coherent professional learning system grounded in adult learning theory
Develop leadership capacity among staff through distributed leadership and team development
Use evaluation systems to support both accountability and growth
School Culture, Climate & Relationships
Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe school culture grounded in belonging and psychological safety
Lead implementation of MTSS frameworks, including SEL, restorative practices, and PBIS
Establish and sustain a high-expectations culture for students and staff
Build meaningful relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners
Promote student voice, engagement, and leadership opportunities
Family & Community Engagement
Serve as a visible and accessible leader, strengthening trust across the school community
Develop strong partnerships with families through authentic engagement and communication

Act as a key liaison between the Superintendent and school stakeholders

Ensure efficient and effective school operations, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation
Oversee personnel recruitment, hiring, and retention aligned to district goals
Manage budgets, safety procedures, compliance, and reporting requirements
Maintain systems that support strong attendance, discipline, and student support structures
Align operational decisions to instructional priorities and student outcomes

Demonstrated highly successful secondary teaching and leadership experience are required. Candidates must demonstrate a student-centered, culturally affirming approach to instructional leadership, data-informed continuous improvement, and supervision practices that lead to student achievement and teacher growth.
Applicants must have or be eligible (via NYSED reciprocity) for New York administrative certification (SBL, SAS or SDA).
