The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township (MSDWT) is located in the northern section of Indianapolis, Indiana and Marion County. Areas of Responsibility
Developing and directing, in cooperation with the administrative staff, procedures and criteria for the selection and recommendation of qualified candidates for employment to the Superintendent
Formulating and maintaining procedures to achieve maximum results in locating, recruiting, interviewing and transferring persons to fill all vacancies in certificated, classified and substitute positions
Establishing and maintaining procedures for the storage and retrieval of personnel records, with appropriate security measures, on all personnel and the accurate and rapid processing of all required credentials and licenses
Coordinating a benefits and services program for all district personnel
Adhering to board policy and legal regulations in the dismissal and/or termination of employees
Preparing and submitting of all state, local and federal personnel forms and reports according to established deadlines
Coordinating onboarding of new employees, continuing education and evaluation programs for all personnel
Maintaining a well-developed system of personnel accounting and research that helps predict staff needs and enables the administration to make sound projections for current and future employment
Supervising the work assignments for the Assistant Director of Human Resources, Human Resources Coordinators, Benefits Specialist, Human Resources Administrative Assistant, and the Central Office Receptionist
Developing and facilitating personnel procedures to improve the morale of all employees
Assisting the payroll department in preparing and processing employee information necessary for ensuring accurate compensation of all employees
Coordinating the preparation of all salary schedules and fringe benefit information
Participating in collective bargaining activities, discussions and meet and conference activities at the direction of the Superintendent
Assisting personnel in matters relating to contract implementation and interpretation
Planning and coordinating the MSDWT teacher recruitment fair as well as attending teacher and staff recruitment fairs that adhere to the HR strategic plan
Meeting with employees regarding many HR related topics including school building visits, FMLA, maternity leaves, retirements, employment matters and other topics related to HR
Analyzing human resources related policy and making recommendations in cooperation with the assistant superintendent
Attendance at required school board meetings and other district meetings
Collaborating and working with Teacher Association Executive Leadership including:
coordinating meetings following initial bargaining time constraints
representing the best interest of the school district
ongoing collaborative and bargaining meetings throughout school year
continual communication with the union representatives to ensure the wellbeing of the
district relations with employees
Overseeing and participates in various hearings including:
unemployment compensation hearings
workmen's compensation reviews
FMLA claims
EEOC claims
Working closely with building principals on topics including:
evaluations and assessments
development of plans of assistance
classroom staffing needs
professional development
absenteeism
employee discipline procedures
attends district wide Principal meetings
Working closely and in collaboration with the Superintendent, Chief Financial Officer and legal counsel on many topics including:
unemployment issues
employee discipline
termination procedures
contract negotiations
compliance of legislative policies
compliance with equal opportunities legislation
Performing any other duties as assigned
