Roanoke City Public Schools (RCPS) is an urban school division in Roanoke, Virginia, serving approximately 14,000 PreK-12 students. Position Overview:
Roanoke City Public Schools is seeking exceptional principal candidates for the 2026–2027 school year for Patrick Henry High School. The principal serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school, responsible for setting a clear vision for teaching and learning while ensuring effective day-to-day operations. In this role, the leader oversees daily operations, manages school resources and budgets, guides school policies, fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment, and collaborates with staff, students, families, and community partners. The principal plays a critical role in promoting academic excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide visionary leadership for a comprehensive high school program that promotes academic excellence, career readiness, and student success.
Lead and support a team of educators in delivering rigorous, engaging, and student-centered instruction aligned with division curriculum, including opportunities in advanced academics, career and technical education, and college and career pathways.
Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that reflects the mission and values of Roanoke City Public Schools, emphasizing equity, belonging, and high expectations for all students.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with families, community members, higher education institutions, and local businesses to enhance student opportunities, including internships, dual enrollment, and career exploration.
Oversee the development and implementation of instructional programs, student supports, and professional learning to ensure teachers effectively meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of high school students.
Promote and support a robust program of athletics, extracurricular activities, and student organizations that enrich the high school experience and encourage student engagement.
Ensure a safe, supportive, and challenging learning environment that prepares students for postsecondary education, careers, and responsible citizenship.
Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK–12.
Demonstrated experience as a school administrator with a strong focus on instructional leadership, school improvement, and student achievement at the secondary level.
Proven ability to lead diverse teams, support effective teaching practices, and cultivate a culture of equity, inclusion, and high expectations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with families, community partners, and stakeholders to support student success and expand opportunities for high school students.
