Position Summary: The Upper School English teacher will teach the equivalent of three sections of High School English, and attend weekly faculty meetings.
A successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The following are essential duties and functions of this role. Duties can change and others may be assigned:?
Teach the equivalent of three sections of High School English;
Will demonstrate mastery of curriculum and teaching High School English;
Adopt innovative instructional and assessment practices consistent with departmental philosophy and pedagogies.
Education, Competencies, and Experience:
An undergraduate degree in English or relevant discipline is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
Successful high school teaching experience of at least three years including experience with introductory level as well as the most advanced levels, including AP classes. Independent school teaching experience is preferred.
Creative and current with best practices in teaching.
Excited about teaching high school students to engage in our core educational practices.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
A deep interest in our Quaker mission, educational philosophy and DEI initiatives.

Salary: The salary range is expected to be $45,000-$59,000. The actual compensation will be based on the candidates teaching schedule (FTE), relevant and transferable years of service, and other factors, which include internal peer equity, the market and other organizational considerations. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
