Under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, the Intermediate School Principal is responsible for a total school program for seventh and eighth grade students. The Principal is responsible for providing a safe and engaging learning environment that is responsive to the aptitudes, ambitions and interests of the students and their parents, consistent with district goals, community expectations and legal requirements.
An appropriate California Administrative Credential or its equivalent.
Administrative and/or experience at the intermediate school level is desirable.
Knowledge of school curriculum, student assessment, and staff accountability.

An ability to research, plan and implement programs to ensure student success, including skill in identifying needs, establishing goals, setting priorities and defining systems for implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs.
An ability to administer school programs in a diverse community.
An ability and willingness to be visible and accessible to staff, students, parents and community.
Exemplary personal qualities including integrity, honesty, warmth, humor and compassion.

Claremont Unified is located 35 miles east of Los Angeles in a community known for its strong commitment to education. District boundaries include the City of Claremont as well as portions of Pomona and La Verne. CUSD serves approximately 6,750 students with a graduation rate of 98.8%. The district has seven elementary schools, one intermediate school, one community day school, an adult school, one four-year comprehensive high school, and an alternative high school.
