Our School: Founded 70 years ago, St Francis of Assisi School has a long tradition of academic excellence. The school is a K - 8th grade Catholic School with approximately 500 students from diverse backgrounds. The school is committed to developing the Whole child. The school maintains high scholastic expectations and endeavors to enable all children to achieve their full potential. Overview of the Position: We are looking for a leader, a collaborator, and an innovator. The primary roles of the principal include spiritual leadership, executive management, and instructional leadership, while assuring Christian leadership according to Archdiocesan and local school policies, rules, and regulation.
Qualifications for the Position: • Practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to Catholic education • Master's Degree in Educational Administration or similar advanced degree • Holds a current Washington State Principal Credential (or similar credential) • Minimum 7 years teaching experience • Minimum 3 years of administrative experience working in a Catholic or top public/private school setting

Major Duties and Responsibilities Include: • Fosters an environment and maintains a curriculum that will advance young minds to become perpetual learners, responsible community members, excellent communicators, and compassionate children of God. • Works in partnership with the pastor, vice principal, teachers, and staff in implementing a clearly communicated mission that embraces Catholic identity rooted in Gospel values, centered on the Eucharist, and committed to faith formation, academic excellence, and service. • Collaborates with the vice principal, teachers, and staff to assure the development and implementation of an overall learning environment which promotes Catholic faith education/formation, ethical decision-making, social justice, and Christian leadership. Promotes a curriculum that incorporates Gospel values; assuring the integration of the school as part of the parish faith community; serving as a role model for staff and students; promoting a leadership style compatible with Christian principles; and personally, witnessing to the principles and values of the Catholic faith. • Assures the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive curriculum program which complies with school accreditation and Archdiocesan/state standards. Oversees the school’s accreditation process; implementation of instructional goals and objectives for each grade; evaluating current curriculum to determine strengths and weaknesses and collaborating with staff in selecting supplementary programs. • Takes responsibility for the hiring, development and oversight of all teachers and staff, including recruitment, professional growth, faith formation, and formal assessment of teachers and staff in compliance with Archdiocesan policies. • Directs the development and continuous improvement of curriculum and instruction. Implements plans for sustained academic excellence and growth utilizing schoolwide student data. • Assures clear and effective communication between students, parents, teachers, staff, and alumni. • Serves as Executive Officer to the School Commission. The principal develops agendas in collaboration with the Commission Chair and assures the preparation of information, research and other appropriate data as requested by the Commission. • Oversees the development and implementation of overall financial plans and budgets using current and effective business practices. Collaborates with staff and vice principal on fundraising and development initiatives. Oversees school enrollment services and advancement efforts for student/family retention and community engagement. Engages with staff, vice principal, and experts in nonprofit management/funding to develop a longrange financial plan for the school. • Collaborates with the Archdiocesan Office for Catholic Schools in administering the school. Accomplished by developing annual school programs, plans, goals, and objectives and participating in programs, meetings, etc., sponsored by that Office. • Implements the policy and process for disciplining students in collaboration with the vice principal and other school staff. Incorporates the values of justice-making and membership in a community promoting positive discipline and its consequences. • Manages school health, safety, and security processes, including disaster and crisis management procedures. Assures the preparation and submission of all necessary reports to the state and Archdiocesan Office for Catholic Schools. Adheres to all applicable state and Archdiocesan safety and health regulations. • Oversees facility management of the school building and grounds, including supervising short- and long-range building and grounds improvement needs for the school. Principal supervises maintenance/janitorial workers for the school. • Maintains the level of knowledge and skills required to function as a principal. Accomplished through reading, attendance at Archdiocesan in-service training opportunities, participation in workshops, conventions, and through membership in local, state, or national professional organizations, as approved and as appropriate.
