Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a Leave Replacement Learning Specialist to serve students in grades 5-8, from October 28 - December 2, 2024.
Middle School learning specialists provide academic services in the form of individual, small, and large group academic coaching. The role places an emphasis on bringing together research and best teaching practices to remediate specific skills of our students across educational settings, which include language arts, math, social studies, and science. Learning specialists collaborate with faculty to help increase our teachers’ awareness and understanding of students’ learning needs and to offer suggestions for differentiating classroom instruction for students with different learning styles or specific learning challenges.
Responsibilities will include a full-time teaching load of four sections, advising a group of 8-10 students, and attending grade-level and faculty meetings.
The successful candidate will be a dedicated, skilled learning specialist with a Master’s degree in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, School Psychology, or related field of study, have demonstrated successful teaching experience, and be able to work effectively with Middle School students, families, and faculty. Responsibilities as Middle School Learning Specialist include:
Serve as an integral member of the Learning Support Team under the supervision of the Learning Support Department Head and the Middle School Principal.
Meet routinely with the Learning Support Department Head and other learning specialists within the division and across divisions to share information about students, to set goals for the division and department, and to engage in professional development.
Provide reading support and teach specific writing strategies to students.
Provide resources, strategies, and teaching techniques to teachers to support students with varying learning needs.
Develop, implement, and monitor a school-based learning plan with a profile that includes instructional learning goals and accommodations for eligible students.
Support the coordination of school-based assessments for students eligible for accommodations.

Salary range: $69,200 - $165,700 (salary based upon experience, pro-rated for 5 weeks)
