POSITION SUMMARY:
Acts as the educational leader, supervisor, coordinator, education appraiser and interpreter of the educational program for school within the District as assigned. Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervises and administers the High School and other secondary schools in accordance with state, county and District policies and procedures • Is responsible for the interpretation and execution of directives from the central administrative staff • Is responsible for the supervision and welfare of teachers • Evaluates assigned personnel • Supports and encourages the philosophy of education according to District Policy • Carries on an organized program of instructional evaluation in accordance with State regulations and District Policy • Serves as site Title IX Coordinator • Promotes proper conduct and discipline • Provides for the individual needs of students • Directs the health, testing, safety and guidance programs of the school • Consults with pupils, parents and school personnel, regarding the particular needs, problems and programs of individual students • Encourages and works actively with parent-teacher organizations and other groups interested in the improvement of education • Interprets the school's educational program to the community and whenever possible, promotes a greater understanding of school objectives • Supervises the pupil accounting and inventory programs of the schools • Works with staff and the Superintendent in the development of the annual budget requirements and, after approval, operates the school within budget allocations • Requisitions appropriate teaching materials from District sources • Directs the internal operations of the school office • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the District Superintendent
SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
• Supervises assigned certificated and classified staff • Works under the supervision of the Superintendent
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Applicable credentials: California Administrative Services Credential or equivalent and valid California teaching credential • Training and Experience: A Master's Degree in an appropriate field is highly desirable and experience as a school principal.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations. • Ability to see for the purpose of reading printed matter. • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. • Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation. • Ability to bend and twist, sit, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and crawl. • Ability to lift 50 pounds. • Ability to carry 25 pounds. • Ability to reach in all directions.
