Salary Details:
Salary Range: $71,000-$90,000. Salary offers are based on factors that include years of experience, training/skills, internal peer equity, market, and other organizational considerations. Position Summary:
Lower School Head Teachers should be eager to engage in ongoing collaboration with colleagues on the grade level team, specialist area teachers, and administration. An ideal candidate must demonstrate a warm and inviting personality and have excellent interpersonal skills with faculty, students and parents.

Essential Duties Include: Duties may change and others may be assigned
a commitment to active and thoughtful engagement in work involving identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion
the ability to manage the behavior in a classroom consisting of 16-18 students using the Responsive Classroom (or similar) approach
a commitment to professional development to grow in current and best educational practices in reading, writing, math, and social studies
the ability to study curriculum and do the intellectual work needed to deliver instruction at a high level
knowledge and experience with the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop model
knowledge and experience with Singapore math and/or the CPA (concrete, pictorial, abstract) approach to mathematics
experience with Problem Based Learning
a strong understanding of how to use formal, informal, summative and formative assessments to plan lessons and units of study, as well as help students reach their potential
attend teachers’ meetings, after school weekly faculty meetings, teacher trainings, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and other meetings that contribute to the life of the school, which may occur after 3:45 pm
uphold the Quaker mission and educational philosophy
other relevant duties as assigned
Education/Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education is required. A Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education is preferred. A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required to apply (preferably in an independent school). Previous head teaching experience is preferred.

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularlyrequired to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; usehands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, orcrawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able tomove across the campus.
