Canterbury School of Florida in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking an experienced, dedicated Lower School music teacher who has a commitment to the School’s Mission and an interest in school-wide participation, such as committees and activities. This nurturing educator will teach and continue to enhance the Lower Campus’ music program by utilizing standard elementary music methods, such as Kodaly, Orff and/or Dalcroze approaches to heighten musical literacy and appreciation. Community performances (musicals, celebrations, holidays, etc.) are an important part of the Lower School music program and are organized and directed by the music teacher. This candidate will also implement LEADS (Canterbury’s character education program) through advisory and will be expected to perform various duties (i.e. lunch and carline) that support the Hough Campus. It is expected that each faculty member contributes to a positive culture by building collaborative, collegial, and respectful relationships with colleagues.

An understanding of the scope and sequence of all elementary school students from PK3-Grade 4.
A strong commitment to nurturing children’s individual talents and passions.
Requirements: • Bachelor Degree in Music Education with elementary school teacher certification; Master’s Degree preferred • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience • Ability to play the piano or guitar • Understanding of the cognitive and developmental needs of children • Experience with project-based and hands-on learning • Clear understanding of differentiated instruction • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written • Commitment to professional development • Proficient in educational technology • Ability to coordinate across the curriculum
