Rye Country Day School is seeking a Pre-Kindergarten Co-Lead Teacher beginning in August 2023. Responsibilities:
Possess a deep understanding of the social /emotional milestones of this age
Collaborate closely with Pre-K co-lead teacher and team
Assume responsibility for instructional planning, implementation, and assessment of Pre-K program
Instill a love of Math with hands-on activities
Develop enthusiasm for reading and writing, with underpinnings in phonemic awareness
Show confidence in developing an experiential program that takes advantage of the natural environment in our area and student interests
Work collaboratively with kindergarten teachers to ensure continuity in the curriculum
Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and parents; contribute in a supportive manner to the life of the community while treating information related to students as strictly confidential
Communicate with families on a regular basis
Attend related school-wide, divisional, and grade level meetings
Provide narrative progress reports three times a year that include an assessment with clear benchmarks in the social/emotional and academic readiness areas
Attend workshops, conferences, and other professional growth opportunities as approved by the Lower School Principal and the Head of School
Participate in the Admissions Committee by conducting group visits, reading prospective student files, and attending committee meetings
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience including experience working at the pre-kindergarten level
Demonstrated ability to foster the intellectual and social development of four and five year olds
Facility with technology and other tools to enhance the program
Responsive Classroom experience and training preferred
Knowledge of/ experience with early childhood programs such as Reggio Emilia and Montessori a plus
