Rye Country Day School is seeking a Pre-Kindergarten Co-Lead Teacher beginning in August 2023. Responsibilities:

• Possess a deep understanding of the social /emotional milestones of this age
• Collaborate closely with Pre-K co-lead teacher and team
• Assume responsibility for instructional planning, implementation, and assessment of Pre-K program 
• Instill a love of Math with hands-on activities
• Develop enthusiasm for reading and writing, with underpinnings in phonemic awareness
• Show confidence in developing an experiential program that takes advantage of the natural environment in our area and student interests
• Work collaboratively with kindergarten teachers to ensure continuity in the curriculum

• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and parents; contribute in a supportive manner to the life of the community while treating information related to students as strictly confidential
• Communicate with families on a regular basis
• Attend related school-wide, divisional, and grade level meetings
• Provide narrative progress reports three times a year that include an assessment with clear benchmarks in the social/emotional and academic readiness areas
• Attend workshops, conferences, and other professional growth opportunities as approved by the Lower School Principal and the Head of School
• Participate in the Admissions Committee by conducting group visits, reading prospective student files, and attending committee meetings

Desired Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience including experience working at the pre-kindergarten level
• Demonstrated ability to foster the intellectual and social development of four and five year olds 
• Facility with technology and other tools to enhance the program
• Responsive Classroom experience and training preferred
• Knowledge of/ experience with early childhood programs such as Reggio Emilia and Montessori a plus
