Eastside Catholic School seeks a talented, engaging, compassionate Director of Equity and Social Action. The successful candidate will be an independent worker and self-starter with strong collaboration skills to lead and implement best practices in diversity, equity and inclusion at EC. Candidates must share our belief that a culturally rich and inclusive school community provides students with the best possible environment for a quality educational experience. This role provides support and resources for faculty, staff, students and families to support the mission and Touchstones of Eastside Catholic.
The Director of Equity and Social Action reports to the middle school and high school principals and acts as a resource, guide and strategic planner. This is an exempt, full-time, year-round, on-campus position. The director will oversee programming to help the school continue to grow as an inclusive community that values a diversity of perspectives, traditions, ideas and contributions. The director will collaborate with school administrators, faculty and student leaders to ensure the philosophies of diversity, equity, social justice and inclusion are integrated throughout the curriculum. This role is open in preparation for the 2023-24 school year.
The successful candidate will be a life-long learner who actively participates in professional development to enhance their skills and uses state-of-the-art technologies to maintain high-performance standards to produce work products efficiently and effectively. Salary is competitive with public and independent schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide strategic leadership in diversity at EC, utilizing best practices
Acts as a resource for faculty and staff to provide academic, emotional and social support for students and families of diverse backgrounds
Serves as a resource for faculty regarding inclusivity and equity issues through professional development, collaboration and support
Collaborates with principals, director of curriculum and instruction and instruction coach on a culturally appropriate curriculum for students in grades 6-12
Coordinates programs for educating the EC community (faculty, staff, students and parents) about issues related to inclusivity
Partners with EC parent organizations to ensure diversity and inclusivity in parent programming
Serves as a resource for students and student leaders of diversity initiatives; works to be a visible presence in the different divisions of the school
Supports the hiring of candidates of color at EC through outreach and travel to conferences and hiring fairs
Supports the Admissions Team’s work with prospective parents and guardians in learning more about the EC community and a potential fit for their student
Works with the marketing and communications team to publicize diversity-related events, educational opportunities and workshops for students, faculty, staff and families
Establishes and cultivates community relations by maintaining an open dialogue with the school’s constituents
Actively participates in the life of the school, including admissions, advancement and community events
Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s employee and student and family handbooks and governing documents
With safety and security every employee’s responsibility, this individual will take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
Teach adult and student courses as needed and as are developed and oversees school affinity groups

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required
Master’s degree preferred
5+ years of experience directing diversity or related programs preferred
Experience working in an educational setting is preferred
