This position is for the 2023-24 school year and begins in August, 2023.
Indian Creek School is an independent, co-ed day school in which 560 students age 3 to Grade 12 partner with innovative teachers in an outstanding educational program. Responsibilities:
Teach four sections of upper school mathematics utilizing research-based best practices in mathematics education.
Plan and implement effective lessons and units.
Use a variety of assessments to measure and respond to student learning and engagement.
Create a positive and welcoming classroom culture and community.
Integrate technology such as Desmos, ALEKS, STAR and others to assess and build student understanding.
Use ICS technology systems including the School’s Learning Management System to provide students with course materials and feedback.
Team with the math department in elevating student confidence and performance in mathematics.
Collaborate with colleagues in designing curriculum and instruction.
Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members.
Work with the Upper School Principal and faculty to ensure high quality education and an engaging experience for students
Write student reports as required.
Serve as an academic advisor to a group of students.
Attend all divisional, departmental, and school faculty meetings including professional development days.
Desire to be actively engaged in the work of innovative teaching, diversity and inclusion, and ongoing professional growth.
Other duties such as lunch/study hall/chaperoning/etc. as assigned by Upper School Principal.
Ability and flexibility to teach Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Data Science
Knowledge of best practices in mathematics education
Resilient, mission-driven, and proactive in creating and implementing an innovative and research-based mathematics curriculum
Collaborative by nature, and an effective communicator with students, teachers, administrators, and families
Proficient user of technology
Excellent organizational skills
3-5 years of teaching experience (preferred but not required)
Genuine excitement for working with students
College degree, preferably advanced degree, in mathematics or a related field
Educational philosophy which aligns with the mission and core values of ICS
Must pass Federal and State background check along with MSDE Employment History Review
