ST. ELIZABETH SCHOOL, located in Wilmington, DE, is seeking an elementary school principal (grades PreK3 -8) to sustain and advance an established Catholic school in the tradition of St. Benedict. The elementary school principal of St. Elizabeth School will be a spokesperson and representative of the Benedictine charism in hospitality, prayer, work, and service. As such, this leader is required to demonstrate spiritual and visionary leadership and serve as an educational leader for students, faculty, and parents.

St. Elizabeth Elementary School, with approximately 25 educators and support staff is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Delaware Association of Independent Schools. St. Elizabeth, comprised of 235 students (grades PreK-8), uses updated technology within the classrooms to enhance the learning environment of our students. With creative opportunities such the Viking Performance Pathway Program, which enhances the learning opportunities in the areas of math and science with enrichment clusters and group activities, we are able to challenge our students as they grow academically, socially and spiritually. In addition    to the extensive curricular offerings, the school offers the opportunity for performing arts and drama program with the assistance of the Penna Foundation Grant, showcasing the talents and energy of our students and teachers. The school campus comprises two city blocks with a beautiful Romanesque-style church, a theater for performing arts and a gymnasium.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and management skills, foster diversity, equity and inclusivity within the community,   be an effective listener, developer of talent, provide leadership in the use of technology, be open minded and innovative. Overall, the principal will provide leadership for faith, academics, and student life. The Elementary School Principal, High School Principal and the President will collaborate closely on the mission and vision of the one school.

The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Live as a practicing Catholic
• Hold an advanced degree (Master’s or higher) from an accredited institution
• Hold or be eligible for Delaware or Maryland licensing/certification (Catholic Theology or Ministry degree is exempt from this requirement)
• Have a minimum of five years teaching experience at the elementary level (Catholic school experience as a teacher/administrator preferred)
