Salary Details:
$10K bonus ($5K bonus to be paid at the time of hire & $5K to be paid at the completion of the 2022-2023 school year).
The Principal is the chief administrative and supervising officer of the school and is responsible for implementing the policies and procedures adopted by the Governing Board as communicated by the superintendent. The Principal has the authority over all pupils attending the school and over all the personnel assigned to the school. The Principal may delegate authority and responsibility to assistant principals, teachers, and classified staff at their discretion, but, in every instance, the Principal is responsible for the effective operation of the school and its programs, including leadership in initiating curriculum change, coordinating all services and personnel and directing human resources at the school site and in the community.
Initial Position Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid CTC Administrative Services Credential
- Must possess a Master's Degree
- Minimum of four years of classroom experience
Goals of Effective Performance:
- To provide strong leadership at the school site level in the areas of instruction, evaluation and assessment of personnel and program in providing the students a quality program within the guidelines of California State Law, State Board of Education regulations and Los Nietos Governing Board Policies and Regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To assist the Superintendent in any project, program or area of responsibility as they may wish developed and/or implemented at the school site level.
- To assist the teachers in defining their program objectives in light of district goals and objectives.
- To assist teachers individually and in teams toward more autonomy and more accountability for all decisions affecting instruction. This shall be achieved in part through the following:
a) Individual conferences.
b) Helping teachers identify their objectives.
c) Supporting curriculum and grade level groups.
d) Assuming an active role in in-service planning. - To encourage teachers to explore and experiment with new teaching techniques and practices.
- To know and implement the educational philosophy of the district and district programs as they pertain to the uniqueness of, and/or the needs at the school site.
- To provide leadership within the school staff which insures continuous cooperative planning and assessment of the school program.
- To provide quality executive leadership which will promote high staff morale.
- To share responsibility with the superintendent in selection, assignment, evaluation, transfer, and staff development programs for school personnel.
- To become familiar with the special needs and individual differences of children and structure classroom placement accordingly.
- To assist the teachers in diagnosis of the individual needs of pupils and planning their program to provide for these needs.
- To enforce all rules and regulations adopted by the Governing Board under the direction of the superintendent.
- To be responsible for the efficient organization of the staff and the effective care of buildings and grounds.
- To effectively organize the requisitioning, storing, and distribution of supplies and equipment while working closely with the district Business Services office in all areas of property care and management and in supply and equipment requisitioning and use.
- To organize the total school program to assure the safety and welfare of pupils and staff.
- To support the superintendent and keep him/her informed concerning developments which might involve the superintendent or the Governing Board.
- To work through the superintendent when initiating professional contacts with the Governing Board.
- To stay current with research and trends in the area of education.
Supervision and Evaluation:
Supervision under the immediate direction of the Superintendent;
Evaluation will be accomplished with the Superintendent and Principal after a mutual system of assessment has been agreed upon.
