Hong Kong International School is recruiting a comprehensive high school counselor to join a dynmaic eight-person counseling team. HKIS counselors provide services that promote students’ personal, social, educational and spiritual development. The high school model meets the needs of students through a community structure of four communities with two counselors in each community for a 95:1 student-to-counselor ratio. Each team of counselors work together to advise, advocate and support their community students through social/emotional, academic,  college/career and global perspective domains. The school offers an AP curriculum.

Masters or advanced degree in Counseling or equivalent (School Counseling preferred)

Required minimum two years experience (five years preferred) as a counselor in a school context at the relevant grade/age level. Experience leading parent and student groups within a culturally diverse setting preferred.

• Strong counseling knowledge and skills
• Solid knowledge of global university admissions practices; experience working with families throughout the full application process; familiarity with university application platforms
• Excited about teaching Counseling Seminars (grades 9-12) as part of a Wellbeing Block
• Ability to facilitate groups for both students and adults
• Excellent interpersonal skills in order to collaborate with faculty, parents, students, and administrators
• Interpret individual and group assessment data to families and faculty
• Skilled in the use of technology for student planning and documentation
