As a member of our Support Services Team, the School Psychologist will work closely with the Director of Support Services and the Lower School Principal (in addition to collaborating with other faculty and administrators).
Responsibilities for this position will include:
providing crisis management and appropriate outside referralsproviding individual “check-in” services to students that target improved academic and social-emotional outcomes at school
providing “lunch bunch” groups for students (e.g. social skills groups, groups for children whose parents are separated or divorced, etc.
serving as a resource to teachers and parents in the areas of child development, assessment, intervention, learning, etc.
providing teacher support and collaboration
providing parent guidance and consultation
supporting parents through the process of outside evaluation (both privately and through the Board of Education)
Teaching social/emotional (SEL) classes
collaborating to provide school programming for both students and parents related to children’s social and/or emotional development
screening and evaluating new applicants, as a member of the admissions team
Has a Master’s degree, Psy.D., or Ph.D. in school psychology, counseling psychology, or related field
Has relevant experience with elementary schools and counseling elementary-aged children
Possesses knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
Possesses experience with and understanding of relevant tools available for student assessment
