Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County (SSDS), a coed, Jewish independent school serving students in preschool through grade eight in New Milford, NJ, seeks a passionate and innovative Middle School Language Arts teacher for a full-time position beginning in the fall of 2021. SSDS cares deeply about our students at an individual level; promotes teacher collaboration on curriculum and instruction; and encourages active participation by teachers in the greater school community.
Responsibilities include teaching a full time class load as part of a strong, collaborative team dedicated to integration of curriculum across grades and divisions. Additionally, all middle school teachers are expected to serve as an advisor to a select group of students as part of our middle school advisory program, which focuses on social-emotional learning, as well as student skills. In addition to their curriculum, middle school teachers monitor the social and emotional health of students; enforce community expectations both in and out of the classroom; and assess and communicate with the school and parents about student progress through team meetings, conferencing and report cards.
The successful candidate will be a highly organized, experienced, and dedicated teacher who thoroughly enjoys working with middle school students and families, has strong written and oral communication skills, a commitment to professional development, and proven success working collaboratively.
Candidates should send a resume, cover letter, references and teaching statement to Jennifer Coxe, Middle School Principal, at email@example.com . No phone calls, please.
