The Culver City Unified School District is seeking an enthusiastic leader to serve under the direction of the Superintendent as the educational leader and chief executive of one of the District’s five elementary schools. In this respect, the principal will be responsible for the overall instructional program and operation of the school plant, and must actively promote effective relationships between the school and the community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
Provides leadership to the professional staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for developing long and short-range plans.
Interprets and implements the District approved curriculum program in relation to individual school needs.
Develops an effective program of staff development that includes selection, assignment, in-service education, and evaluation of all site personnel.
Supervises and evaluates the performance of all assigned personnel, and recommends appropriate action in cases of substandard performance, and is equally diligent in recognizing excellence.
Plans, coordinates, and evaluates the total program of pupil services at the school site.
Plans, supervises, and directs the business operations of the school in accordance with District policy and procedures.
Develops school plans and organizational procedures for the health, safety, discipline, and conduct of the students as established by District policies and state law.
Carries out a program of community relations as a means of interpreting and furthering school programs through parent groups and other community organizations.
Serves as a District officer in communications between central administration and all building employees in the school and interprets supports, and implements District policies and procedures
Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Linwood E. Howe - Five to seven years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary level. Previous administrative experience is highly desirable. Documented and demonstrated effective instructional, organizational and administrative leadership. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, the community and employee organizations. Minimum Qualifications for La Ballona Elementary Five to seven years classroom teaching experience at the elementary level. Administrative experience preferred. Documented and demonstrated effective instructional, organizational and administrative leadership. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, community and employee organizations. Experience with Dual Immersion Education, intercultural communication skills and demonstrated bilingual skills are desirable. Ability to promote bilingualism and biculturalism.
Education Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and a California Administrative credential required. Evidence of continuing graduate course work is desirable. CLAD or BCLAD highly desirable. Spanish language proficiency preferred (For La Ballona Elementary).
Additional Salary Information: 212 day work year.Salary depends upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. In addition to the base salary, the District pays $2000 for a doctorate degree, a mileage stipend, and offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and their families, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
