The Academy of the Holy Cross is accepting resumes for a Director of Admissions.
The Academy of the Holy Cross, is a Catholic College preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity. The Director of Admissions oversees all aspects of the admission process, from first inquiry through enrollment. The Director of Admissions will also work closely with the Enrollment Management Team reporting to the school's President. The Director of Admissions serves as a member of the President's Leadership Team, providing strategic direction and management while staying abreast of all best practices within the admissions field.
Offering information regarding the importance of single sex education and how this type of education fosters leaders during high school and beyond
Reminding the applicant, through acceptance letters, that her community (family) will be part of a larger community of faith and scholarship - the AHC community
Ensuring that admission inquiries, especially those related to waitlist or non-acceptance students are answered in a timely and respectful manner
Visit elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Washington and make formal presentations to the 8th grade girls and interested parents; maintain working relationships with all elementary school principals
Organizes and runs prospective student and parent visits, including Open House
Work with the Communications Director to design Open House material
Complete work orders and food service requests
Coordinate volunteers from the Home and School Association, Fathers Club, and Mothers Club
Review, verify and assess applications and supporting documents
Respond to inquiries and resolve problems related to applications
Maintain a high level of confidentiality and quality control regarding applications
Schedule and administer the High School Placement Test
Keep track and communicate with prospective families and students, receive and return all admissions inquiries
Maintain accurate records and ensure that all applications are complete and all questions answered for the Admissions Committee
Promote the Academy of the Holy Cross at High School Fairs
Oversees and attend all activities associated with Admissions such as the Admitted Students Night, Big Sister/Little Sister Picnic, Transfer Orientation, etc.
Present the school to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents; interviews with candidates and their parents; arrangements for admissions testing; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals
Manage the admission office; oversee creation of the admissions budget and appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings and publications
Evaluate continually and redesign where appropriate all aspects of the admissions and marketing program with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a wait list of qualified applicants which consist of at least 10% of the maximum class size for each grade.
Oversee the Parent Ambassadors Program
Keep relevant statistics on all aspects of the admissions and re-enrollment program
Represent the school at various gatherings and conferences
Recruit and train Student Ambassadors for various events during the school year
Support the school and its leadership
Perform other related duties as assigned
Must have experience working in admissions, education and marketing
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have strong time management, organizational and decision-making skills
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and Excel
Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism
Must supervise Assistant to Admissions Director
Must be able to drive a car for recruitment purposes
Must be able to carry materials for High School Fairs and visit elementary schools
Must be able to multi-task
Must be able to meet deadlines
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise independent judgment and discretion in sensitive matters
Must be available to work some evenings and occasional weekends
