Our Director of Admissions will be joining a team of enthusiastic, dynamic and collaborative professionals at Gesher Jewish Day School - a growing JK-8th grade school serving Jewish students across Northern Virginia.
The Director of Admissions is responsible for all aspects of Admissions recruitment, enrollment, and retention. He/she reports to the Head of School and is a member of the Leadership Team, which includes the Head of School, Principal, Directors of Development, Finance, and Marketing. The Director represents the School’s educational program to prospective students and parents, builds relationships with other local schools, stewards prospective families through the application and admission process, and manages the selection process.
Our Director of Admissions will be an individual whose exceptional professional, communication, and interpersonal skills will enable him/her to lead an exemplary enrollment management program that ensures the attraction and retention of mission appropriate students and their families to Gesher. The individual will be a prominent face for the school and will play a strategic role in the advancement of Gesher Jewish Day School.
Identify and recruit mission-appropriate students to ensure that strategic admissions goals are met
Serve as an articulate spokesperson for the school by clearly communicating the mission, philosophy and outstanding educational program
Work with the diverse communities from which Gesher draws. This includes geographic, educational and religious
Promote good relationships with outside groups including preschools, elementary and middle schools, outside organizations, education consultants, etc.
Provide outreach to leaders of various synagogue and community organizations in the feeder area
Direct and track the admissions process from point of inquiry through enrollment and provide regular reports to the Leadership team, the Board, and faculty on the results of admissions activity, research, demographics, and other relevant enrollment trends
Coordinate and participate in all recruitment efforts including development of materials, marketing, social media, advertising, etc. in cooperation with the leadership team.
Coordinate and administer the review of all applications, interviews and meetings with prospective students and their families and administer placement testing.
Manage Parent Ambassador program to promote positive word of mouth marketing internally and externally
Actively seek ongoing professional development through a well-established professional learning network
Enthusiastically serve as a member of the senior staff that leads and supports school-wide initiatives, policies, events and procedures.
Flexibility to support other departments and faculty members with events and activities.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, or education; an advanced degree is strongly preferred
Proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment while maintaining professionalism and a sense of humor
1+ year prior experience as an admissions professional required, 2+ years preferred
Knowledge of Jewish day schools is a plus
Knowledge of admissions processes, from inquiry to matriculation to retention, in the K- 8 independent school model
Knowledge of creative marketing strategies and problem solving skills
Knowledge and understanding of school-based data analysis, using key performance indicators to continuously improve recruitment, marketing, and retention strategies and processes
A collaborative working style as a key member of the Leadership Team
Familiarity with Jewish life, community, practices and customs preferred.
