Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent, coeducational, national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K–12 on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy seeks a Grade 3 Homeroom Teacher with a commitment to inclusive, multicultural teaching and practice for an opening beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. The Grade 3 teacher is a member of the Lower School and reports to the Lower School principal.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science. Experience teaching and implementing Lucy Calkins Units of Study, Investigations Math, and project-based is highly desired.
In addition to outstanding teaching ability, we seek a teacher who is inquisitive, self-directed and team-oriented, and who balances engagement, innovation, relevance, and rigor.
Superior content knowledge
Competency teaching Grade 3 or a lower elementary curriculum
Solid understanding of the developmental needs of school-aged students
Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary, fast-paced environment
Skills to communicate well with colleagues and parents
Experience and comfort with relevant technology and the ability to integrate technology skills into curricular units
