Saint George’s School seeks a Head of Upper School for the 2019-2020 school year starting July 1, 2019. This is a full-time, administrative appointment. The Upper School provides a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum (IB Diploma Programme grades 11-12) for 160 students in grades 9-12, as well as extensive opportunities in the arts, athletics and service.
Serve on the Administrative Team, supporting the goals of the Head of School and promoting the mission of the school.
Provide educational leadership for the Upper School, responsible for its day-to-day operation; to direct the activities of the school instructional and the non-instructional staff in the performance of their duties.
Observe, supervise, and help evaluate the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum; to supervise the teaching process, and to review and evaluate the academic programs.
Assist in programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers, and for the evaluation of classroom teachers, to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation.
Oversee, review, and make recommendations regarding staffing and budgets for the division.
Look after the educational, physical, social, and psychological needs of the members of the school community and to develop plans for meeting those needs.
Manage the activities of the department chairs, the sponsors of various student organizations and activities, and faculty committees.
Prepare a master schedule and assign teachers and students to classes and other obligations.
Assist in the planning and the presentation of school assemblies and programs.
Support the school’s K-12 curriculum alignment through participation on the Curriculum Committee and staying abreast of best practices and recommending changes.
Establish and enforce all policies of the division including clear communication of policies through the divisional handbook and curriculum guide.
To assist in the admissions process by interviewing and evaluating applicants for enrollment.
Oversee the college counseling program.
Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, or equivalent, with a demonstrated interest in innovation and keeping at the forefront of educational trends.
Five years of successful experience in academic leadership, preferably at the secondary school or higher education level.
Minimum of five years teaching experience in grade 9-12.
Experience with International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme preferred.
