Enlace Chicago partners with eight neighborhood public schools in Little Village to transform them into fun, safe, and innovative community-driven learning environments for youth and adults during and after school hours. The Post-Secondary Coordinator (PSC) works with CPS staff such as Network 7 staff, counselors, teachers, parents and students. The PSC also works closely with other Post-Secondary Coordinator(s) to ensure that resources are being built and used by all students in Little Village. By being stationed at the Farragut Career Academy, the PSC is responsible for providing post-secondary opportunities to identified target student groups in the Little Village Community that include college access, workforce, and vocational opportunities. PSC also works closely with the high school College Coach and the Little Village Education Collaborative College Pipeline Specialist to streamline the
post-secondary system and ensure the creation of support systems for a successful transition to post-secondary opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and implement a post-secondary program
Recruit and retain students to provide individualized post-secondary planning support in coordination with Enlace’s PSC and Farragut’s college coach, staff,
Recruit and nominate students for the Posse Foundation Scholarship, which includes support with the Posse application and interviews
Schedule office hours during the regular school day and out of school This includes some Saturdays.
Engage with the student’s parents on the college application
Plan, coordinate, and support parent and student post-secondary
Refer students to Enlace Youth Engagement
Develop partnerships with local industries, non-profit organizations, colleges/universities and Enlace Chicago staff to ensure successful program implementation.
Participate in committees, work groups, and events that are relevant to post-secondary
Be up to date with information relevant to undocumented students and their access to resources for college and other post-secondary
Develop and implement evaluation, tracking tools and satisfaction surveys to continuously adapt to the needs/interests of students and their
Plan and support the College Passport Series with Enlace’s staff and school
Experience working with a diverse population of all ages
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience working with multiple post-secondary stakeholders
Experience or familiarity with the experiences of undocumented students, the challenges in access to college for undocumented students, and the different immigration statuses that exists
Experience in designing, planning, implementing and evaluating workshops and post-secondary attainment
Knowledge of the Greater Lawndale community (North Lawndale and Little Village)
Knowledge and experience in facilitating workshops on skill building, college application process, FAFSA, effective scholarship applications, post-secondary vocational training, job search methods, and current post-secondary resources for undocumented students
Effective communication and organizational skills; e. strong writing, research and presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and flexibility to adapt to unexpected circumstances
Bilingual (English and Spanish) required
Bachelor’s degree or higher
This position may require some evening and weekend hours
Compensation: Salary based on experience; comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, dental, life and short term/long term insurance, 403b retirement option, and generous paid time off.
