Holy Family School's Principal will have the chance to lead a high-performing school grounded in Catholic teaching to its next level, cementing the school's distinct status in the region as a welcoming, academically rigorous, faith-based school option for local families. Holy Family offers a diverse curriculum, innovations in educational technology with a focus on 21st century learning, and an emphasis on meeting the educational needs of each individual student. Programs offered at Holy Family are intended to develop the whole child through academic excellence, discipleship, sportsmanship, and creative expression. This is all carried out in the supportive and caring community of the School and Church.
The Principal, working under the supervision of the Parish Life Director and in partnership with the Holy Family School Board and parish community, will provide a high level of insight and business acumen towards best practices regarding various key priorities, including: increasing and sustaining enrollment; maintaining and increasing academic standards, branding and marketing; pioneering effective professional development strategies for faculty and staff; and evaluating and refining Holy Family School's administrative, financial and operational systems.
The Principal will ensure that each teacher maintains Holy Family School's high academic standards, bringing urgency, rigor, preparation and joy to the classroom each day. This leader will articulate a clear vision, centered on student achievement in academics and character, and use that vision to build culture, create programs and systems, and make decisions. The Principal will support teachers developing competence in the curricula though modeling, observing, providing feedback and supporting teacher reflection, and will identify and prioritize professional development needs through analysis of student data, teacher growth areas, and school needs. An empathic individual with gravitas and presence, the Principal will support and model an open climate that attracts, retains, and motivates an exceptional and diverse team.
Core Competencies The Principal will be a visible and culturally engaged leader with the capacity to envision and strategically plan for the future of the organization. This individual will be an experienced leader, able to develop, inspire, and lead a highly effective and talented team of teachers and administrators. With experience in school operations and management, this individual will have a combination of breadth and depth with a range of functions, including a balance of strong external relations (enrollment and community relations) and internal (operational, finance and staff management) skills. This leader will have depth, emotional intelligence and the academic credibility to serve as a respected and approachable leader to all constituent groups.
Candidates must be practicing Catholics with a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education. A Master's degree in Education or an Education-related program is required for the position, as well as a California Credential (teaching and/or administrative) or Catholic School Administration Certificate. Preference will be given to candidates with Catechist Certification. Candidates will have at least five years of teaching experience, with at least two in Catholic education. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience as a Principal and/or Vice Principal.
