Washington International School seeks an experienced professional counselor to become part of the Primary School leadership team and provide faculty training and support for student concerns to 420 students and 100 faculty and staff.
You are energetic, flexible and dedicated to serving the needs of children. You understand working in a collaborative setting to provide academic, social and emotional support to students. You are comfortable working with the Student Support Team, including, faculty, learning specialist, nurse and others.
You have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and understand the need to keep accurate and detailed records using technological tools vs. paper.
You are able to teach Life Skills to Preschool through grade 5 students, to build self-awareness, interpersonal skills, define personal values, problem-solving and self-care. You can work with students one-on-one and in group settings.
You help families in crisis, provide short-term counseling, provide referrals and resources outside the school community and serve as a liaison with outside mental health professionals.
