ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL for 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR:
St. Matthew Catholic School is a Catholic community in Phoenix, Arizona, educating more than 200 students from kindergarten through eighth grade in a dual language (English/Spanish) environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and dedicated principal and Catholic educator who will embrace the challenges and excitement of a long established school in order to partner with parents and parish community to educate the whole child while helping our students find God in all things through learning, faith and service.
The Candidate must be a practicing, faith-filled Catholic, possess a Master’s degree in Educational Administration or a related field and be able to be state certified as a principal in Arizona. Knowledge and/or experience in a dual language school setting and fluency in Spanish is essential. The successful candidate will be committed to the values of Catholic education and family, be an excellent promoter of the school, and insist on academic excellence. The candidate must be a collaborative decision maker working with staff, parents and the entire parish community in overseeing every aspect of this ministry for St. Matthew Parish. Knowledge of finances, good communication, and well-formed public relation skills are critical. A progressive and innovative vision of dual language education for the 21st century that includes technology and current teaching methodologies to reach all of our students is crucial. Candidate must understand the professional development needs of teachers. The candidate must have the ability to relate well with children, parents, teachers, staff, and the community at large, honor the traditions and culture of St. Matthew Catholic School, and work collaboratively with the Pastor, Parish Administrator and School Advisory Council to lead the school positively in its mission.
