Notre Dame Academy is a Marist Catholic and International Baccalaureate World School serving students in grade pre-k through high school and located in Duluth, Georgia.
The role of the Upper School Band Director is to direct and manage the overall program of instrumental music for the school as well as provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities for students grade 6-12. Reports to the Upper School Principal. This is a full-time 10-month position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning- Incorporates curriculum standards into well-planned and successfully executed unit lessons, including measurable outcomes, a variety of instructional materials, planned activities and authentic assessments
Student Evaluation- Provides fair, reliable and understandable grade structure, utilizes a variety of assessment techniques
Records- Maintains accurate records of student achievement
Methods of Instruction- Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflects understanding of the learning styles and needs of students
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.
Master’s Degree preferred
Previous teaching experience in a secondary setting
Experience in directing bands
A respect for the teachings of the Catholic Church
Experience using instructional technology
Some evening presentations and concerts required
