St. Mary’s is a Catholic, college-preparatory school educating students in grades 6-12 from more than thirty communities on Boston’s North Shore.
Steeped in a tradition of excellence in academic preparation, strong values and a powerful sense of community, St. Mary’s students are encouraged to reach spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical and creative potential. Located in Lynn, MA, an urban community north of Boston, St. Mary’s offers a vibrant and contemporary learning environment where students always come first.
The Board of Trustees seeks a mission-driven and visionary leader to serve as Head of School for this historically important and academically rigorous school. St. Mary’s uses the Head of School/Principal model whereby the Principal leads day-to-day school operations and reports to the Head of School, who has general charge of the school’s facilities, academic, business, and spiritual life beginning July 1, 2018. The next Head of School will lead with confidence and inspiration, ensuring that strategic initiatives set forth by the Board of Trustees are implemented, appraised and developed with ambition and vision.
The Head of School Search Committee welcomes candidates from diverse career backgrounds who are faith-filled, capable of building community, and experienced in delivering excellent results. There is a strong preference for educators who know the business of Catholic schools. Candidates will be considered whether they are emerging leaders or well-established in a career. The community looks forward to a dynamic leader who will inspire others and expand both the excellence of the school’s program as well as the culture of respect, decency and service upon which it has been built.
The ideal candidate will be:
A strategic thinker who envisions St. Mary’s future and energizes the community to realize it.
A professional who will fundamentally enhance the educational mission of the school by attracting and retaining outstanding faculty, students and staff.
A skilled financial practitioner whose understanding of fiscal management practices promotes academic programs of excellence within a set budget.
A fundraiser who will build institutional capacity by securing resources made available through philanthropy and will continue to expand a tradition of philanthropic support.
A superb communicator who will articulate the value proposition of the school to myriad audiences, directly influencing St. Mary’s broadening visibility and enrollment.
A collaborative leader who will inspire Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, clergy, local leaders and all friends of St. Mary’s to boldly and courageously position the school for the future.
