The Gifted and Talented Teacher/Coordinator K-12 will work to direct program design, oversight of a defensible identification protocol, development of a consistent differentiation delivery, PL plan for all faculty and staff responsible for differentiation of curriculum and instruction for identified AL, collaboration with the LC in the development of an accountability system that tracks yearly progress for AL.
*In collaboration with other departments, develop a flexible, enriching curriculum appropriate to meeting students’ advanced learning needs and nurturing group interaction.
*Collaborate closely with the CNG's departments, school principals, instructional coaches and teachers to ensure that enrichment is embedded in curriculum and instruction.
*Support to and liaise with families.
*Support school administrators, instructional coaches and classroom teachers to proactively identify students with advanced learning needs and support their learning.
*Serve as an ongoing resource to classroom teachers by providing materials, methods and ideas to ensure appropriate educational experiences for students with advanced learning needs.
*Design a system for identification of advanced learners who require more enriched learning opportunities ensuring the use of multiple measures to target diverse populations, such as twice-exceptional students, English Language Learners (ELL) and former ELL, early childhood, etc.
*In collaboration with the classroom teacher, assist in providing direct instruction to identified students with advanced learning needs as may be outlined in the student Individual Education Plan (IEP).
* In collaboration with schools and the Learning Center, consult with families to address the needs of advanced learners.
*Seek out and coordinate implementation of current research and best practice in the area of advanced learning.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
*Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university, with an endorsement or at least 20 hours in gifted education or previous related gifted education teaching experience.
*Educator certification/licensure required.
*Five years of successful teaching experience with a minimum of (3) years in advanced learning/gifted education or other related experience.
*Demonstrated ability to individualize and make use of strategies and techniques for teaching students with advanced learning potential.
*Knowledge of the US Curriculum Framework.
*Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
*Demonstrated experience working with staff, families, and students on matters relating to planning curriculum and instruction.
*Experience with data collection and data analysis.
*Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds.
*Proven track record for providing engaging and relevant professional development to teachers in the area of advanced learning, enrichment and/or gifted education.
