Golda Och Academy is a vibrant learning community that focuses on the individual intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of each child. We cultivate in students a lifelong love of learning within the context of Jewish knowledge and heritage. Our school is located on two campuses — one for the Lower School and one for the Upper School — located about two miles apart in West Orange, serving approximately 525 students from more than 60 communities across New Jersey.
Golda Och Academy unlocks the potential of our students by cultivating their critical thinking skills and nurturing their intellectual curiosity through the study of the humanities, sciences, Judaics, and creative arts. In preparing future generations of Jewish leaders, our rigorous Pre-K through 12th grade curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in Jewish literacy through the exploration of texts, traditions, values, and the Hebrew language. Guided by an exceptional faculty and a meaningful partnership between school and home, our students develop a love of learning, a personal relationship with the State of Israel and its people, and a commitment to the betterment of the world through tikkun olam.
The Upper School Principal is the instructional leader of the Upper School (250 students from grades 6-12) and has primary responsibility for carrying out the School’s mission of providing a rigorous dual curriculum for its students in an environment that works to create a strong Jewish identity, foster a commitment to community for all of its stakeholders, and teach each student the importance of Jewish values.
The Upper School Principal is also a member of the School’s senior leadership team and will participate in a number of whole-school activities including: helping to carry out our Strategic Plan, policy setting, and institutional advancement. Reporting to the Head of School, he/she will be an expert educator, capable of leading both faculty and students alike, and advancing the School’s commitment to providing a rigorous academic experience for each student. The ideal candidate will have experience leading in both a Middle School & High School setting in either an independent, public, or Jewish day school environment.
