JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the facilitation of the GED preparatory and academic pathways associated with Diploma attainment. The Accelerated GED Program (Intensive Youth Services / Project Onward) offers on-site / off-site intervention service to opportunity youth 16 – 18yrs and prevention services to in school youth 13 – 15yrs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains caseload of youth in class and one-on-one tutoring sessions.
Plans, organizes, and leads groups of youth in GED preparatory, program lessons and associated activities, both on and off site.
Develops lesson plans/curriculum, which demonstrates and instructs youth in obtaining their high school diploma, which also includes portfolio development.
Uses resources to develop activities for weekly lesson plans.
Maintains attendance and all other required records needed for program administration.
Must be willing and able to assist youth with assigned homework and tutoring.
Must be willing and able to accompany and supervise youth on outings and fund raising events. This includes organizing, planning and escorting youth on college tours, and any other educational field trips.
Builds partnerships with area schools/principals and works with schools regarding recruitment efforts for the program.
Evaluates transcripts and creates course schedule for each youth.
Completes the intake process for each youth, including the Alternative Education Plans (AEP).
Builds and maintains a file for each youth that documents all coursework and program paperwork.
Prepares enrollment documents for each student and submits them to the subcontracted school.
Submits daily attendance to subcontracted school.
Meets with administration from the subcontracted school at least once a month to track student progress.
Prepare monthly progress reports for each student.
Maintains a graduation status for all enrolled youth that tracks the completion of each graduation requirement.
Trains youth and other staff on online program
Performs home visits when necessary, Jail visits when necessary. Neighborhood visits when necessary.
Supports Coordinator by selective duties pertaining to program development and advocacy.
Implements procedures and policies for operation of the Accelerated GED Program.
Follows safety measures with youth indoors and outdoors.
Responsible for communicating discipline issues with youth to Site Supervisor.
Provides choices for youth and guides them in making positive decisions.
Must be active involved with all youth in the program.
Maintains working knowledge of all program statements of work and performance goals.
Assists in evaluating current procedures and practices for accomplishing objectives. Implements alternative methods for improvement of program.
Maintains knowledge in current field by attending seminars, workshops and in-service trainings that total 15 hours annually.
Attends and completes Advancing Youth Development training.
Collects data and information for periodic program evaluations.
Maintain communication and positive working relationships with team members.
Must be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
Attends all staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Education with Type 9 certification
Experience in facilitating large classes, or experience working with youth.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Proficiency in all subjects-up to the 12th grade level.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish) preferred.
Access to a vehicle and valid Illinois Driver’s License required.
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours required.
